The Goshen Parent Community (GPC) is a group of parents who work together to enrich the experience of our children at Goshen. We celebrate whatever gift of time and service each parent can contribute to make our school the vibrant place it is. Whatever your schedule looks like – if you think you can come to an hour-long meeting or take on a leadership role for an event – you are always welcome. Here is a little about what we do each year and our fundraisers:
HARVEST FAIRThe GPC plans an outdoor afternoon of fun fair games, including bounce houses, spin art and pumpkin painting, in the early fall.
INTERNATIONAL WEEKEach year our children learn about three different cultures around the globe. The children's study of these cultures culminates in a week-long festival. The most recent festival, in 2015, celebrated the cultures of Ireland, Puerto Rico, and Thailand. The GPC works with our teachers to support entertainment for the One World Café, the food- and fun-filled event that ends this very special week.
TEACHER APPRECIATIONEach year the GPC delivers special breakfasts or lunches to let the teachers know that the parents of Goshen recognize the time and effort they have devoted to our children.
CLASSROOM PURCHASESThe GPC has funded extra requests by teachers during the school year. Past purchases include digital cameras for every classroom, smart boards and a keyboard.
CLASSROOM REPRESENTATIVESThe GPC needs two representatives from each Preschool and Lower School classroom. We ask representatives to attend GPC monthly meetings, relay information to their classrooms via email, and coordinate volunteers as needed through the school year. Please send an email to email@example.com if you would like to volunteer.
BOX TOPSWe collect General Mills Box Tops for Education. Save those little stamps from your taco and cereal boxes (ask grandparents to save too)! Our goal each year is to raise $500 from Box Tops.
BOOK FAIREach spring we partner with the Chester County Book Company for our annual Book Fair. Teachers choose books that parents can purchase to donate to the classroom, and you can stock up for summer reading and gift-giving. Proceeds benefit the Goshen Friends library.
COUPON BOOKSIn the fall we raise funds via a KidsStuff coupon book containing thousands (really!) of discounts at area retailers, restaurants, and entertainment venues.
UNIQUE BOUTIQUEThis event brings in vendors who pledge a portion of their sales to the school's capital campaign. We provide the venue, wine, and appetizers to make shopping fun!
DUESEach family is asked for $40 annually to help kick off the year.
Graduates of Quaker elementary schools know themselves and are able to recognize the strengths of peers. Because they are effective communicators and creative problem solvers at an early age, the fifth graders approach transitions with self-assurance. They are not only prepared for a middle school setting; they are “ready” in every sense.
